Design Does not have to be boring

there are some really great Modern designers who didn’t just use minimal color palettes and Helvetica. After checking out this weeks reading list I checked out some cool designers from this era and they were making cool stuff during the Modernism period. Lets talk about Paul Rand first, a designer responsible for many well known brands and design. Paul Rand was born in 1914 and started doing graphic design after taking night classes at Pratt Institute. after essentially teach himself how to design he picked up small design jobs until he made it big enough to do several brands that are still used today like the IBM logo, AIGA, abc, and so many more along with this he did book covers, posters, painting, and photography. I find that I really like his work because he has a wonderful color sense that appears in a majority of his work and he uses fun fonts! Overall he was really fun to read about and find that I was actually familiar with a lot of his work. Another cool designer from this time was Milton Glaser, you might know him for making the I ❤️ NY logo seen all over New York City or the Dylan poster for Bob Dylan. These are both Iconic designs and are that way due to simple but effective design. Much like Rand, Glaser also used color and fun fonts and imagery to create designs that are known world wide today. these two are both proof that you can make fun colorful design and still be successful. Thank goodness for designers who didn't just use Helvetica and single color designs.
